Silver Patch
After discovering an 1850s photographic process called wet plate collodion I had an idea so profound it would change my life forever. I dreamed of creating the world’s largest wet plate collodion images something that had been deemed impossible since the beginning of photography.
This dream required building the world’s largest wet plate collodion camera that would also serve as a darkroom.The silver in this 19th century process is the most important element and it is the foundation that this dream was created upon.
The Silver & Light patch t-shirt is created with the same exact silver we used to make plates in Yosemite, the Middle East, Monument Valley, Slab City, Vancouver B.C., and Los Angeles. While on this journey that led us around the world we were also able to create a collection of the world’s largest tintype and ambrotype photographs.
During the processing of these giant plates we realized each drop of silver splashed onto our clothing was painting a picture of the people and places we’ve photographed along the way.
By creating these individual patches we’re now able to share a physical piece of the Silver & Light journey with you. Lightweight 4.5 oz white denim patch sewn onto 100% cotton t-shirt. Men's sizes S,M,L & XL.
